It is seriously baffling, how Digimon can not evolve and adapt in the digital era of smartphones and wearables. To make at least one truly good game to revive the franchise. I was really looking forward for this game but it is disapointing and low effort generic idle auto battler IP cash grab with Digimon sprites... outdated, outperformed, out of touch with reality and just not worth it, just .
Truly underwhelming.
It's a idle game with a digimon skin over it, what is to be expected here?
That aside, I really find this game to be disappointing compared to bandai's previous digimon mobile games. The game is honestly your average boring AFK game, with the usual gacha mechanics that entice you to spend money for "more power". The only upside is that the pixel art is VERY well done, and honestly it's a shame being used in a game that honestly subpar.
I will say however it did just launch, maybe later down the line bandai can redeem this game and make it more enjoyable?
This is an Idle game. Meaning you dont actually do anything. Everything is automatic. You just stare at the screen and click "collect" basically. The only difference between you and other players (there is an auto pvp battler mode) is A. How long they have let their phone sit with the app open to level up and B. The auto-pulled gear you equip that has random stats.
• Something I have to interject here: This game has strange lag and loading times for the like 2 things it allows you to do. There is an "explore" mode where you click a tile to make the digimon move forward to collect items. Clicking to move takes a really long time and is frustrating to even bother with because of that. The other thing is there is a raid auto-battle mode happening and clicking the play button doesn't do anything for like a good 20-30 seconds. You have to click the button and stay on that screen (with no loading indicator or anything to show that it is trying to enter the battle) until it decides to load.
I know next to nothing about Digimon, and I still know next to nothing about Digimon despite having played this game and max Digivolved two different monsters. That is how devoid of actual content this game is.
• There is no story at all. Just a tutorial on how to set up the auto equipment pulls. Then straight into staring at your auto attacking digimon.
• For a game that has no actual gameplay, it sure does push battlepass/premium currency. I think right now there is at least 4 or 5 available battle passes to buy.
• The only redeemable aspect of the game for me is the Digimon themselves and the pixel art. Now that I have max evolved 2 Digimon though, I feel finished with the game. You cant actually do anything with the digimon you have trained. Just the auto pvp mode that you can hit skip on after 5 seconds passes.
Can't recommend this game. I really hope Digimon learns from this and makes a better app some day. I would love to learn more and play in the Digimon world. This game unfortunately is just an idle game with a Digimon skin slapped on it.
